Penallt's own Climate Change Song!
Penallt resident Vin Godier says “We thought we would have a bit of fun making this video in the run up to the COP26 climate change talks.”
The song is a true family effort. Performed by 10 year old Hattie Ryder. Written by Vin Godier (Hattie’s granddad) who also multi recorded the backing tracks and produced the video and was shot by Emily Ryder, Hattie’s mum.
Vin wrote the song a couple of years ago for the grandchildren but has only recently recorded it with his granddaughter Hattie. He wanted to keep the song light-hearted but still get over the important message.
Hattie got involved “because sharing the message of climate change is very important to me, we only have one planet and we’ve got to protect it. I also really enjoyed sharing my favourite thing - singing with my Grandad”.
Vin also give his book The Message for a Positive Future a plug at the end of the video. The book, which was published last year, is also about the future of our planet but with a positive view.
He says “I first paint a picture of a wonderful world we could live in, and then explain why we are not achieving it. The book then goes on to explain that it is in fact achievable, if only we work from the right level of consciousness and have the will to do it.
It’s interesting that many of the things I discuss in the book are now becoming extremely relevant since the beginning of the pandemic and what’s been happening in the world since.”
