GDPR and the Penallt mailing list

Like many village halls, societies, sports clubs, etc, Pelham Hall/Penallt village holds a database of residents’ email addresses, home addresses and telephone numbers. We use this primarily to send out emails of village interest (the weekly newsletter); home addresses and telephone numbers are rarely used but are maintained as a secondary means of communication.

The database exists in the form of a simple Excel spreadsheet to which access is heavily restricted to a small subset of the Pelham Hall Committee and is not available for use by anyone else.

GDPR: A regulation about data protection (the General Data Protection Regulation) came into force on May 25th 2018. The Hall has drawn up a policy on how it maintains its data, a copy of which can be found here.

Pelham Hall Chat

A WhatsApp group was started in September 2023 “to help everyone keep in touch with Hall events and each other”.
