Penallt Gateway

Over the past year or so, we’ve included news about the Wye Valley AONB Villages Project at

The project has now entered a phase where “quick win” proposals can be implemented. The first of these relates to “road safety and placemaking” with its detail described as “Creation of village gateway signage. Align this with the approach to the network of villages by assigning a particular theme/ name for each village.”

Such signs would be associated with 20 mph speed limits also.

Work started on designing gateway signage earlier this year. The brief was that each village’s sign would have a common “brand” or theme, which included the village name, references to TUCC, MCC and the AONB and a suitably rural graphic.

The signs for Penallt were the first to be installed, the rest of the Wye Valley villages signs following in order, north to south.
