Film Night Programme - Autumn 2022

Pelham Hall is pleased to announce that Film Night is making a regular return to Penallt for the first time since early 2020. Please make a note of our Autumn season where a very attractive programme (three British and one American film) has been put together.

Friday 9th September: THE DUKE [12A] 96 mins – Comedy/Drama/True Life

Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren are brilliant in this charming comedy/drama set in 1961 depicting the infamously true story of how Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington was stolen from the National Gallery by an unlikely thief.

More information (including trailer) can be found here.

Friday 14th October: OPERATION MINCEMEAT [12A] 128 mins – Drama/History

Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen star in this remarkable true story of the elaborate plot cooked up by British intelligence in 1943 to fool Nazi Germany into thinking the allies planned to invade Greece and Sardinia, rather than their actual target, Sicily.

More information (including trailer) can be found here.

Friday 11th November: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN [12A] 102 mins – Comedy/Drama/Sport

Mark Rylance plays a crane operator who managed to qualify for the 1976 British Open having never played a round of golf before. His hilarious attempts to compete at the highest level of professional golf, draw the ire of the golfing elite but make him a British folk hero in the process.

More information (including trailer) can be found here.

Friday 9th December: ELVIS [12A] 159 mins – Biography/Musical

The standard rock biopic formula gets all shook up in Elvis, with Baz Luhrmann's dazzling energy and style perfectly complemented by Austin Butler's outstanding lead performance, with Tom Hanks playing his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

More information (including trailer) can be found here.

All films are shown upstairs in Pelham Hall (directions) in the bar area. Doors open at 7.15 pm and films start at 7.30 pm prompt. There is a £5 per head entry fee, payable on the door (cash or card). The bar will be open too.
