Thinning operations in Luggas Wood

From Allen and Caroline Davis

As owners of Luggas Wood, Lone Lane, we'd just like to advise everyone that we are carrying out thinning operations in our conifer plots, over the coming weeks. These works are authorised by NRW via felling licences and a Wildlife Directive Notice. For safety purposes, locals should not attempt to walk in, or enter, the wood during this activity.

There will be timber lorry movements through the village during this period, and, as we are removing some roadside trees, there may be short periods when traffic will need to be halted for safety. Signs or operatives will be present when this is necessary.

All our immediate neighbours have been advised individually.  We trust no-one will be inconvenienced by this work, which should result in less probability of trees falling over the road. Replanting and natural regeneration will start to see a return to native broadleaf species.

Our southern boundary is a horizontal line just above the word Grove on the map. The contractors will be working in most compartments, apart from the part where the quarry workings are, towards the west side.
