Swing from Paris concert at The Hall

What a start to the evening; pre-concert attendees had been watching the England football team take on Switzerland in the Euro cup quarter final on the Big Screen in the Hall bar. The audience included a couple of Swing from Paris musicians (both guitarists) and as the game went to extra time and then penalties the concert was delayed for a few minutes due to half the audience and half the band missing from the auditorium!

Following an England victory we all convened in the main hall for a very entertaining evening. The violinist introduced each composition with a little piece of history; the age of the composition, it’s composer, the musical influence it absorbed and the inspiration it gave others. We all felt like Paris Swing Jazz experts by the end.

With a fabulous collection of music spanning many decades from the 20’s onwards, delivered by a group of very accomplished musicians, the audience of 50 or so souls was certainly entertained as well as educated.
